A JOURNEY THROUGH POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME |
|
|
|
by Randi Cecchine Scrambled is a story about living with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, a complex medical condition affecting 5%-10% of all women. Scrambled reaches through the shame and confusion associated with PCOS to reveal universal themes around healthcare, fertilty, relationships, and the complex connections between body, heart and mind. The 41 minute video weaves my own experiences with the stories of 11 other women with PCOS and highlights consultations with various medical practitioners. It is an important educational resource to understand the specifics of PCOS. It is also a great tool for anyone struggling to understand their own body without guilt, shame or embarrassment. And it's entertaining too!
Over the years I have seen many patient education videos but Randi Cecchine's Scrambled is possibly the best I have ever seen. One of the greatest difficulties of PCOS is that so many affected women feel isolated and alone. The remedy for this is Randi's video which expresses eloquently what it is like to live with PCOS.

As president of a PCOSupport chapter and a regional coordinator for my area
of the state, I have seen women so affected by watching "Scrambled" that
they broke down and cried for the first time in years, sometimes for the
first time ever. It's an honest look at living with PCOS, at the struggle to
figure out what is wrong with our bodies, and each time I watch it, I am
blown away. SHE GETS IT! She shows us that we're not alone, and that
although the challenges of finding a doctor and a course of treatment may be
battles, they are battles we can win. Any woman who has the courage to share
her journey with this disorder -- including showing the world that she
shaves her face -- is a cyster of mine!
